Hey man, let’s meet up!

You check your email:

“You’ve been scheduled for an interview on Monday 2 weeks from tomorrow at 11am. Please bring all the documents for review”

First of all! Congratz you’re shortlisted. There’s something in you that the company wants to know more about you.

Now, how you’re gonna react on that!

Scared!? Better not!

Scared!? Better not!

1) Reply and accept your acknowledgement about the date and appointment proposed. If you can’t make it on the day, try to negotiate and suggest a new date. However, please be flexible. It’s not that you would interview someone.. It’s you who are going to be assessed or interviewed. So, DON’T ACT LIKE A BOSS asking people to follow for your dates availability!

2) Suit up, prepare, do some research on the interview that you’re going to attend. Several types interview that are very common in Malaysia. Behavioral, work experience, technical questions.Don’t get scared!

Hardest is Technical Questions where you may be required to write a coding line, plan a business projection on Excel, rectify certain errors on the Javascript programming. This requires high learning skills and for that, please measure yourself before over writing about yourself. If you can’t do Macro in Excel, don’t you ever put “Advance in Excel”. It’s so wrong and would leave a negative impact on you.You pay the price.

Behavioral is more laid back and relaxing. It’s more like describing yourself, what you want to achieve, and how do you see yourself in certain years from now.You decide it. Speak with your brains.

Same goes to working experience type interview.

4) During the interview, speak clearly. Answer what you’ve been asked, and don’t tell what you know. It would make the session lengthy. Smile and be clear. The first sentence is always the striking point!

5) Post Interview- It’s best if you could follow up by sending an email thanking the interviewer for spending time, allocating time to meet you. Who knows, with your email, it could touch the interview to the heart by your courtesy.

6) Important: Dont cry after the interview! LOL. It’s already done. Remember,if the job is meant to be yours, it would be yours no matter what. Keep on praying.

6 Awesome Things Must Do for Resume

How confident are you with your Resume writing skills? Example of simple resume that have all the points for easy reading! Follow this

I once also not a good resume writer, in fact until now I am still practicing and researching what type of resume that could catch a reader’s attention just in one read.

You have noted why it is important to have just one page . You don’t want to shift your reader’s attention.

Blend it well, Spice it up, and put some hot source in it.

Let me tell you some tips that things you MUST do and you Must Have in your resume.

1) You must have the objective/mission/purpose– this is what would be on the first page. Objective must be clear! No objective, meaning you have no mission and unclear about your hunting process.

2) Please make a bullet points and emphasis (like bold) the area main point-this to make such an easy reading experience. Main points could also be spotted easily.

3) Place your priority on your resume– This is very important because the higher you put on your resume, the easier people can read and find it.If you think your academic achievement is something that you think your strength and outstanding, you may want to put that on the very first line after objective.

However, if you think your CGPA is not as good as others, it’s okay not to show it off. Show your some other work or internship experience. That can put some gravy on your resume

4) Like computer, resume also has its own language. Computer use C++, Javascript, HTML, css. Resume also has its own language style.Choose strong words, professional words, and make present tense sentences. This is very important because it shows your ability to pick the best word to describe you. For instance, if you want to describe:

“I used to lead a team”..you can say “manage a team
“I look monthly the performance”..you may say “Observe or monitor performance”

Don’t use jargon or complex words. Everybody loves it simple. You can check what kind of resume words that you want to use here!

5) Add some spices and herbs by PUTTING NUMBERS or FIGURES.. It really helps! It attracts readers.

Why?Give your resume’s readers eyes a break. They’ve been seeing words, and letters. Give them a chance to see numbers. Numbers always good. Even in marketing also, numbers would increase awareness. Remember to put what you have achieved in term of numbers.

For instance: “Managed a finance project, case study to monitor a company worth USD2billion.”
Numbers spice it up and give more credibility.

6) Just put the recent achievement, like less than 5 years. Don’t put your primary school achievement. It is somewhat irrelevant to who you are now. 5 years ago, you could be a different person from what you are now! things have changed and you dont want to put the necessaries info on your resume!

Cut it half and short, Whats important make it sweet!

If you think this helps you a bit, please share with your friends.

Together we could make ourselves more expensive and put a higher number on our price tag!

Number is part of your price tag too! Don’t forget!

Fantasy: It’s for free. You create it!

“Fantasy” by Earth Wind and Fire

Every man has a place
In his heart there’s a space
And the world can’t erase his fantasies
Take a ride in the sky
On our ship, fantasize
All your dreams will come true right away

And we will live together
Until the twelfth of never
Our voices will ring forever, as one

Every thought is a dream
Rushing by in a stream
Bringing life to the kingdom of doing
Take a ride in the sky
On our ship, fantasize
All your dreams will come true miles away

Our voices will ring together
Until the twelfth of never
We all will live love forever, as one

Come to see victory
In a land called fantasy
Loving life, a new degree
Bring your mind to everlasting liberty

As one, come to see victory
In a land called fantasy
Loving life for you and me
To behold, to your soul is ecstasy

No matter how good you are. If you are afraid to think big. To dream big. Things would not be accomplished your way.
It’s better to die trying than living for nothing.

All the best.

I will share more on the experiences and tips for job hunting process.

Strike it with Just ONE PAGE!

I remember I took a business advanced writing class back then in my university. My tutor during that time was Asian American. He’s been working with Chicago Newspaper and been writing a lot of business and professional papers.

First thing that he mentioned to me was the importance of having a great resume writing.I repeat, a great resume writing.

Let’s apply some of the concept here because I believe it’s the same everywhere.

Resume length: I was trained to have just ONE PAGE long resume. Yes its a one page.

1) Because as a recruiter, how long do you think they will read thru your 3 pages resume? How sure are you they will go thru line by line whatever you have written on that piece of paper.

Put yourself in their shoes. You have thousands of applicants resume to review. With different format and style. Having a shorter page meaning they could spend more time reviewing more areas on your resume as everything is written in just one page.

2) You might have written on your resume something you’re good at or skills:”Organized, concise and know how to prioritize works”. My friend, believe me, if you have that written on your resume, yet you are unable to have a “ONE PAGE” resume, it would definitely contradict with what you have mentioned.
Being organized and concise would mean that ability to cut it short and pick up the most/crucial points in your resume and choose a very strong and good words.
Well said. Indirectly, one page resume definitely proves your summary skills, organized, and conciseness.

3) The less you write, the less errors you would face. Think it easy. You don’t want to submit your resume that has numbers of grammatical errors, spelling errors or any other language errors. Minimize the cost of being judged by your own writing.

If you asked me, I would prefer to read out and scan a sweet, short, yet concise resume than 3 pages resume.

If you think this is helpful in your resume writing, feel free to share this with your peers.

Email me okay!

Hello potential employees who are soon to be in a workforce,

it comes to my attention that this thing somewhat people often overlook about it. This is because it’s just a freaking email.

I believe 90% of us, we have at least one funny email.
cute_girl@yahoo.com…kind_butterfly@gmail.com…and so on and so forth.I have come across numbers of different and fancy email.I too have one of those.LOL.Back then when we were kids and have a little knowledge what significance this email brings to our life.

Hey!look it again.
It’s advisable to use a proper and professional-look email for your application or hiring process.
Just imagine when the interviewer asked for your contact email and you replied:
“you can drop me an email at little_sailormoon@xxx.com”

It’s never wrong to use that fancy email. However, some recruiters would measure your seriousness and professionalism in that manner.

So, take a look at your email. If you think you need to use different name, please revisit. Use your university email if you have one, like .edu..It might change the whole picture from other’s perception.

It’s a part of your value.

Seems like everybody’s got a price,

I wonder how they sleep at night

When the sale comes first and the truth comes second

just stop a minute and smile

Excerpt from Jessie J-Price Tag

In this world, you have a price for yourself.

I have a price for myself.  And so do you. It’s what you want to get paid for what you do. It can called as “business” too.

What’s your price?

Some may argue it’s not for sale. Some may think they price themselves too low. Some overpriced themselves.

Different people comes with different package.

PRICE is what someone’s willingness to pay in exchange to get the value that could make their life better.

For instance, Apple Inc price its Iphone, starting from USD199. I would say it’s expensive. However, they managed to make sales. In fact, a big sales!. Just an opening weekend, they sold over 9million iphones 5C and 5 combined.

Why?? Because customers want the values that Iphone would bring to their life? What are the values? If you asked me, I would say “exclusivity and prestige”. Some may want its design and interface values. It’s up to individual. After all, no matter how expensive the price would be, if the value gained are well compensated, trust me it’s a good buy.

Same as career world!

So let’s transform ourselves into “Apple” pricing strategy. Add in more values in ourselves. So we can tag the price higher. Employers would want to pay us to get full use of our values.

You=”apple Iphone”

Please don’t miss the boat. It’s never wrong to put a higher pricetag provided the values you provide would maximize the employer’s performance.

Be smart, value yourself more, be bold, be italic,

“Tell me about yourself?” phrase

What would you respond if the first ever question asked is “tell me about yourself?”

Some may want to tell about what is your hobby, what do you like to do, your schools and etc. Actually it depends on the type of interview or assessment you’re dealing with.

If it’s a chit chat session and the interviewer already mentioned,

“lets not talk about work first”..then it’s a signal for you to just LITERALLY tells about yourself, your family and everything that you think relates you well. However, don’t bore them. Add some spices into your words. Tell them something extraordinary that you do like Unique features such as composing songs, playing exotic instrumentals and you know what to tell.

On the other hand, if the interviewer ask you “tell me about yourself” with some serious tone and facial expression. This is when you need to get serious.

Keywords: Keep it brief, simple, and sweet! You DONT WANT to speak a lengthy description about you and make it boring.

Remember: It is the “attention getter” for your interview session. Put yourself in interviewer’s shoes, whether you want to listen to long story or sweet and spicy. It’s the first element to put your number on your price tag!

Interviewer: Tell me about yourself.

Sweet answer: Smart and disciplined oriented finance student who has achieved the best awards in college, and looking for employment in investment companies to blend what I have learnt into real practice.

Some interviewers love to ask a “follow thru” question; what you have said lead to next question. Don’t fall for this by bullshiting too much because the more you talk, the deeper you dig your own grave(dont BS if you dont know).

How much is your price?

it comes to my attention recently that numbers of graduates from universities are still being unemployed. It’s not that they don’t have a good result. It’s not because they can’t compete with the rest. It’s not because of lack of technical skills.

The main root for this situation is the not readiness the graduates to get into the working world. According to the Hiring and recruitment agency (I have watched one on TV), the freshies seem to be unprepared, unable to communicate well during the interviews, In fact it is reported that some don’t even perfectly deliver when the interviewer asks “tell me about yourself”.

Realizing this issue and integrating with how much I want to help this group segment, I created this piece of writing hoping that it could serve as a guide for every body.

With a good “price tag” you put on yourself, it could make “employers” buy you for certain values you have in you

interview, job, communication

Communication and skills set are the key to price yourself higher
